How we calculate fit

The fit percentage on every sector and every career answers one question: how closely does the way you like to work line up with what that career actually involves? It’s measured against real occupational data across 161 dimensions.

What you’ve built so far — classes, projects, experience — deliberately doesn’t move that number. It’s a separate read called objective fit, and you’ll find it on a career’s own page alongside your skill gaps and how prepared you are. Fit tells you where you’d want to be; objective fit tells you how far you have to go.

Brighter, warmer colors mean stronger fit — gold above 85%, amber above 75%, purple above 60% — on the sector clouds out here and on each career orb inside. A high number means a career lines up with how you work, not that you’d already be good at it. It sharpens as we learn more about you.
